CSA

You’re there for us

In Community Supported Agriculture, members buy shares at the beginning of the season. Early registration helps farmers plan, and up-front payment helps cover early-season expenses such as seeds, potting soil, and other supplies.

We’re here for you

In return, members receive weekly or bi-weekly boxes of produce throughout the growing season. You’ll get a steady supply of the freshest, most in-season veggies, straight from our farm to you!

+ - Spring Share

*Pickup is now on Tuesdays!*
$155 Spring Share
8 weeks

Every week, mid/late April to early June

After a long winter, there’s nothing better than those first salads of the season! Smother your winter blues with a mountain of fresh and tender spring greens. This Spring share will start small and gradually increase as more crops come into season. Expect to get a bag of triple-washed salad mix each week, along with a taste of delicious wild-foraged foods like watercress, nettles, or fiddleheads–plus tips and cooking suggestions. Later in the spring you’ll also see spinach, radishes, salad turnips, kale, collard greens, arugula, and other early season treats! Perfect for spring menus of fresh salads and cooked greens. This share is smaller than our summer share.

+ - Summer-Fall Shares

$310 Half Share: 9 weeks (bi-weekly pickup)
$555 Full Share: 18 weeks (weekly pickup)
$310 Market Credit Share (Hopkins only):

Pre-pay and get an extra 10% in credit at the Dancing Gnome Farm market stand. We’ll deduct your veggies from your credit each week. This is the most flexible share option–great for those who may be frequently out of town or who would rather select their own veggies each week. May be redeemed at our market stand or on our online store. Add more credit at any time in $50 increments! Please note that some crops we grow are only available in our CSA box shares, and are not available at market or for Market Credit Shares.

Weekly or bi-weekly, late June through mid-October

Dancing Gnome Farm CSA boxes are 1/2-bushel, packed with 8-10 different vegetables each week. Half-shares will receive the same boxes as full shares, but will pick up their boxes every other week. A full share is designed to feed 2-4 people (or one veggie-lover!); a half share is perfect for 1-2 people or as an introduction to CSA. Boxes will include the full bounty of the season, from classics like carrots and tomatoes to some of our favorites like kohlrabi and romanesco.

Hopkins Pick-up: Saturday mornings from 7:30 – noon, Dancing Gnome stand at the Hopkins Farmers Market.

Wabasha Pick-up: Monday afternoons from 4:30-6:30pm, Broken Paddle Guiding shop, 213 Main St W Wabasha.

Producing eggs on a small scale is a labor of love, not profit. Our chickens live on pasture, rotate to fresh ground frequently, and are fed Certified Organic feed. We work to make our production efficient and to keep our costs low, but we aren’t willing to compromise on the basics.

The cost of production for our eggs is high. We continue to raise chickens and eggs because we appreciate how they balance our growing practices, because we think they’re the tastiest way to start our days, and because we want to share this goodness with our members! Thank you for understanding that we have priced our eggs to enable us to keep this enterprise going!

Veggies to last you long into the winter

When will my CSA start?

Our CSA start dates change a little each year depending on the weather. Spring shares usually start mid-April; Summer-fall shares start the 3rd to 4th week of June. Winter storage share pickup is around the 2nd week of November. You’ll get an email with your exact start date a couple weeks before the CSA begins; if you have any questions, please just reach out!

What if I can't pick up my box?

Most folks choose to send a friend or neighbor to pick up their veggies if they will be out of town. Please let me know if you’ll be sending a delegate or if you won’t be able to make it. Any unclaimed shares will be donated.

What if I can't eat/don't like something in my box?

Share the love! Do you have a friend, co-worker, family-member or neighbor who likes this things you don’t care for? Pass those veggies right along to someone who will enjoy them, and rest easy!

How do I remember what my pickup schedule is?

Aside from your initial CSA schedule email (sent out a week or two before your CSA begins), we offer three other handy ways to remember when it’s your turn for more veggies:

Email newsletter. Your CSA e-newsletter is a great reminder to pick up your box.

Text reminders. We send text reminders on your CSA day. Opt-out any time by texting STOP.

Magnet. At your first CSA pickup, you’ll get a fridge magnet with your summer-fall CSA schedule. Pop it on your fridge for an at-a-glance reminder of your pickup weeks!

Can I come visit the farm?

We host an annual Farm Day where members and regulars can come on down to the farm to enjoy tours, snacks, and activities. Stay tuned for details!

Should I return my box?

Yes! Please keep your boxes clean and return them on your next CSA pickup. Alternatively, some members bring bags to CSA pickup so they can transfer the veggies and leave the box with us.

What about bags and rubber bands?

We do not reuse bags, twist ties, cole slaw containers, or rubber bands. We encourage you to do so if you can!

Our cole slaw containers are recyclable; clamshell containers are compostable!

How do I eat what's in my box?

Your CSA newsletter is a great place to start! We share tips on how we’re enjoying that week’s vegetables, plus a recipe or two featuring what’s in season.

We also love finding recipes online or checking out cookbooks from the local library!

Note: We send our newsletters through Mailchimp, so some folks find that it lands in the ‘Promotions’ or Spam section of their inbox. If you are still not receiving your newsletter, reach out to Lauren to troubleshoot.

How can I keep my veggies fresh?

Getting your veggies back to your fridge as soon as possible will help them keep the longest. If you won’t be heading home to unload right after pickup, consider bringing a cooler to keep your veggies chilled.

I found a great recipe! I made a delicious thing!

Amazing, we’d love to hear about it! Share your veggie success with us by sending a recipe link, uploading a photo, or writing us a note!
